Eyelet Midi Dress & Sunhat

Just like any kid, I loved summer. We lived three houses down from the pool so I practically lived in the water. When I wasn't at the pool you could find me catching lightning bugs with my little brother or begging my parents for another scoop of ice cream. I still enjoy summer as an adult, but now I look forward to wearing my oversized hat and drinking cocktails on the patio.  We've settled in to our summer weather pattern and this eyelet dress has been the perfect piece. It is light enough to wear on the hottest days, but looks more pulled together than a t-shirt and shorts.

Eyelet Skirt & Poplin Shirt

One perks of living on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains is being able to escape the summer heat. This weekend was particularly warm so we hoped in our car and went to Greenwood Grocery to enjoy a sandwich and a little cider. There are few things a breezy skirt and a cold glass of Potter's Cider cannot fix. As we get closer to the big move we are trying to take advantage of everything Charlottesville has to offer, and being so close to the mountains is one of them.

Pleated Black Crane Sundress

Black Crane Pleated Sundress

May was unexpectedly gloomy. Every week I was hopeful for warm, sunny days, but the rain lingered through the end of the month. Our stay at The Clifton Inn was overcast and a little chilly, but we did not let this damper our spirits. We were still able to enjoy the lush gardens and eat a few delicious meals. One bright side, was that this dreary weather gave me the perfect occasion to wear this pleated Black Crane dress. Black is not a typical color for a sundress, but Black Crane is not your typical designer. Everything is simple but meticulous. I had my eyes on this dress for a while before I took the plunge, and I am glad I did. I love that the full pleated skirt gives way to a frayed edge, keeping the look from being overly feminine. Plus, I can wear it with both sandals and heels.
